MY FAVORITE SMALL BUSINESSES TO SUPPORT

Small businesses are something we should all be supporting, whether we are in a pandemic or not. But now more than ever is when small businesses need support the most so I figured I would make a list for you all of some of my personal favorite small businesses and brands that I shop from regularly!
But first, here’s some knowledge on why shopping small and local is kind of a big deal.
-Did you know that as of 2018, 99.9% of U.S businesses are small businesses. Currently, small businesses employ more than 47.5% of the workforce in the U.S and account for 1.9 million new jobs in 2017. (sba.gov)
-Most small businesses consists of 10 people OR LESS!! (this is major.)
- Every year 1 in 12 businesses closes and only 4 out of 100 businesses survive past the 10-year mark. According to a US Bank study, 82% of companies fail because of cash flow problems. (bls.gov)
& before I get started, I also want to point out that support doesn’t always mean buying. Yes, purchases are nice and helpful but there are also a ton of ways you can support for free. Little things too, like sharing a post on social media, signing up for their email list, telling a friend, tagging a friend, following a brand, etc. The list goes on!
Now for the list & not to mention every business on here consists of 1-2 people and are ALL female owned, which is pretty cool if you ask me!
CLOTHES: Who doesn’t love clothes?? I have a few favorite shops that I love to shop from all for different reasons, so here we go.
Huxley & Harper: My friend Christine owns this brand and has the cutest, comfiest clothes for every day attire. Casual, yet stylish and makes every look seem effortless. Clyque: Designed by the beauty, Lily Adel. I am borderline obsessed with her style & as far as fashion, this is probably who I relate to the most! Her pieces and overall look are simple, yet classic with a mix of edge which I am v much about. Plus, bodysuits are so versatile you can literally wear them with anything so it’s basically a really good investment you’re making!
Tanlines: I think we all know who this is by and if you don’t, where have you been?? Designed by Sivan, this is everything you need for both activewear and swim so it’s like killing two birds with one stone and if you haven’t caught on already, I am v much about simplicity when it comes to almost anything. Her pieces are cute, stylish, simple, comfortably AND high quality, so you’re really getting a bang for your buck with this one.
Haute Fox Boutique: This is where I get all my jeans from and one of the only places that actually has jeans that feel like they were made for you! I like to think of her style as girly, yet edgy & she somehow knows exactly how to style everything, if you ever need some fashion inspo- give her a follow!
ACCESSORIES: Because sometimes you just need a little something to feel complete.
Shop C Dahl: For all your dainty jewelry needs, this is your place to go! Shop C Dahl is handmade jewelry from Newport Beach & she donates a portion of their sales to animals in need! Shop Summer Buns: Because who doesn’t love a silk scrunchy?? Not only is silk good for your hair (because it’s so much more gentle & doesn’t cause breakage) they’re just cute and SO IN right now. I like to tie my hair up in a silk scunchy bun before bed and accessorize with her little pearl clips to complete my look for a night out!
HOME: Let’s be honest, this is my favorite thing to shop for.
Craft & Foster: If you’re like me, you love a good candle to set the mood of your day. I love anything that makes my home feel fresh and light in the spring and summer and warm and cozy for the fall. They have some of my favorite candles that I love to stock up on! Personal favorite for this time of year has been the Guava & Fig candle because it reminds me of a summer bbq day by the pool with your close friends and fresh fruit.
Gilded Arrow: This dynamic duo sister team creates the most stunning luxury beach towels. They’re organic Turkish cotton towels that everyone needs. Artisan loomed, flower petal + plant root dyes, they’re softer with every wash. Sign me up!!!!
Home By Be: Pretty much everything you need to make your home feel comfy, relaxing, but with a touch of luxury. I love the simplicity and style of the pieces and how they make staying at home, not so bad (especially right now.)
BEAUTY: Obviously I own my own beauty brand but that doesn’t stop me from supporting others and my friends who have their own as well. There’s plenty to go around.
Skin Boutique When we aren’t on quarantine, this is where I go to get all my facials, waxing and beauty needs, (ask for Danielle!) Since her spa is currently closed due to Covid, she’s been putting together little peel kits so you can have a spa facial experience from the comfort of your own. Don’t worry, she will walk you through what to do and before you know it, you’ll be coming out of quarantine looking like a QWEEEEN HUNNIII
Lux Unfiltered We went over this already, Sivan is clearly the queen of delivering what we all need. For all your tanning needs, this self tanner is hydrating, cruelty free, vegan, recyclable AND buildable. What more can you ask for??
These are my personal favorite places to shop from and support. I know right now it’s hard for a lot of people, but PLEASE remember to shop small and shop local when you can! Remember to share your friends brands, listen to their ideas and support whatever it is they’re doing!
